40th World Othello Championships Results

5 November 2016 – From 1-4 November 2016, Our Singapore representatives participated in the 40th World Othello Championships held in Mito, Japan. After 13 grueling rounds against the top players from around the world, our Team Singapore, consisting of Chew Ching Wuen, Koh Bo Chao and Koh Bo Xiang, emerged Overall 2nd Runners Up in the Team Category! Notably, Koh Bo Xiang, with his 8.5 wins, placed above well established players such as Ben Seeley, Brian Rose and Imre Leader! Excellent results from all of them, and definitely one of the best showings by Singapore in the past few years. Good job everyone!

9th Singapore National Othello Championship

5 June 2016 – Othello Organisation (Singapore) organized its 9th Singapore National Othello Championship. It was the largest national competition the organisation has hosted, featuring a total of 45 players participated in this competition, including players from Thailand, Malaysia and Hong Kong. A total of 7 rounds were played, followed by Female Finals, Semis Finals, 3rd/4th Placing and Finals. We would like to thank all participants for making this event a success, especially our foreign players who traveled all the way to Singapore to take part in this competition.

9th Singapore Schools Othello Championship 2016

26 May 2016 – Othello Organisation (Singapore) organized its 9th Singapore Schools Othello Championship, featuring a new high of 137 participants from 32 teams fighting it out for top. We are very appreciative of Bukit View Primary School who has once again kindly sponsored us the venue for this competition. We would also like to thank all the teachers and parents for your support to ensure the well-being of the young participants. See you next year!

Qualification for WOC 2016

In view of the expected high demand of local players looking to represent the nation for the 40th anniversary World Othello Championship 2016 in Mito, Japan, the representative selection will be as follows:

Apart from the 9th Singapore National Othello Championship 2016 (SNOC 2016), the 5th Singapore Othello Masters Series 2015 (SOMS 2015) will also be a qualifying tournament.

The three players will be selected according to the following priority:

  1. SOMS 2015 Div One Champion –  Koh Bo Xiang
  2. SNOC 2016 Champion
  3. SNOC 2016 First Runner Up
  4. SOMS 2015 Div One First Runner Up – Kenneth Paw Su Lin
  5. SNOC 2016 Second Runner Up
  6. SNOC 2016 Third Runner Up
  7. Players thereafter will be selected as per SNOC 2016 rankings

The female representative will be selected based on SNOC 2016 rankings.
